Announcing auditions for Catch Me If You Can

STARS Performing Arts Company proudly announces auditions for our annual summer musical, Catch Me If You Can. We are seeking students ages 13-18 for performances at the Pozez Community Center in August 2026.

STARS Performing Arts’ Summer Teen Musical Intensive is proud to provide an opportunity for teen performers to participate in the production of a full-scale musical in just three weeks each summer. This fast-paced, professional program provides top-notch training for serious musical theatre performers. Our team of professional artists and rehearsal process make this opportunity uniquely tailored for pre-professional musical theatre performers looking to further their training through hands-on learning experiences.

Dates:

Auditions- Wednesday, June 3rd at Katherine Johnson Middle School

Callbacks (by invitation only)- Friday, June 5th

Rehearsals begin July 20th in Fairfax, VA

Tech - August 2nd-6th

Shows - August 7th and 8th

Cast Fee- $75 (scholarships available)

Please be honest and thorough with your conflicts. Due to our short turnaround time, preference will be given to actors with minimal conflicts during the rehearsal period.

What to prepare:

Please register for an audition slot and complete the audition form linked here:



Auditionees should prepare 32 bars (or 1 minute) of a musical theatre song in the style of the show (please no songs from Catch Me If You Can). Please bring a track, an accompanist will not be provided. Following vocal auditions, we will review the dance combo (emailed the week before the audition) and auditionees will perform the dance. Callbacks will be by invitation only and will include singing and reading from the show. 

Virtual auditions will be considered for this show. Reach out to auditions@theatrestars.org to receive the dance video. You’ll be asked to submit a video of yourself singing 32 bars (1 minute) of a song in the style of the show and the dance video to auditions@theatrestars.org by the date of auditions. Please complete an audition form. Do NOT sign up for an audition slot if you plan to submit virtually.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Frank Abagnale, Jr.- Male Presenting. Our story's conniving protagonist, he is a handsome and youthful con artist. Grew up learning to disappear into another skin to avoid his problems. He eventually falls in love with Brenda and desperately tries to change his ways. G2-C5

Carl Hanratty- Male Presenting. An FBI agent leading the investigation and search for Frank Jr. A knowledgeable and habitual workaholic who idolizes the moment he catches his perp. Lives a private life of loneliness and depression. G2-G4

Brenda Strong- Female Presenting. A young nurse and Frank Jr.'s eventual love interest. Hard-working and initially insecure, she meets Frank Jr. after running away from a wedding. Comes to trust him but his true identity clouds her feelings. G3-A5

Frank Abagnale, Sr.- Male Presenting. Frank Jr.'s father. He is an inspiration when it comes to swindling. Upbeat and fast-talking, he undergoes a series of progressive failures that leaves him a miserable drunk. F2-G#4

Paula Abagnale- Female Presenting. Frank Jr.'s gorgeous mother. She met Frank Sr. in France, during the war, but has fallen out of love. Caring and loving, with an underlying resentment toward her husband and son. A3-C5

Carol Strong- Female Presenting. Brenda's traditional mother. She is talkative and boisterous. Bb3-A5

Roger Strong- Male Presenting. Brenda's conservative father. He is stern and interrogatory, but reveals himself to be deeply romantic. A2-A4

Ensemble- Male and Female Presenting. Commuters, Assistants, Stewardesses, Pilots, Agents, Targets, Party-Goers, Doctors; Nurses, Interns. Various cameo roles will be cast from this group of triple-threat performers.
